Homemade Garlic Butter

Well, of course I had to start with something simple for the first post!

Until 6-7 months ago, I didn’t even know that garlic butter was a thing.

Recently, I found out that it’s actually pretty simple to make at home with only 2 ingredients-garlic and butter instead of using store bought garlic butter (which is comparatively more expensive).

I LOVE garlic so I figured it was probably better to use garlic butter instead of regular butter while toasting bread and whenever possible!

Ingredients:-

  • Softened butter: 50 grams
  • Garlic: 2-3 cloves as per taste OR ½-¾ teaspoon of garlic powder
  • Salt (only if butter is unsalted)

Method:-

Step 1: Take 50 grams of softened (not melted) butter in a bowl and stir/whisk it a little, just to spread it. To soften butter, leave it outside the fridge for a while until it becomes soft. If you want to heat it, make sure it doesn’t melt.

Step 2: Slightly crush the peeled garlic cloves with the flat side of your knife. (This ALWAYS reminds me of The Half Blood Prince’s tip in Harry Potter- Crush with flat side of silver dagger, releases juice better than cutting.) Chop it into pieces as small as possible.

Step 3: Add the chopped garlic and salt (accordingly)-if the butter is unsalted- to the bowl of butter and whisk for 3-4 minutes.

Aaand that’s it! Surprisingly simple, right? It tasted pretty good too!

If you want to increase the quantity of butter, just increase the amount of garlic/garlic powder you’re using. It all depends on how garlicky you want your butter to be.

Happy cooking!
